My First Blog

After many months of reading other RTW blogs that are fantastic – we decided we just had to have one of our own for our trip.  I lay the blame at the feet of the Andrus family at 6 in the World, whose blog let me think we could actually do this crazy trip with 4 kids in tow.

Then we came across The Wide Wide World, Von Zweck Trek and 4 Suitcases and suddenly we realised there were real live people out there doing what we could only dream about doing.

So here it is, after 3 days of fiddling with code and finding my way around WordPress -  the first blog.  It’s still not perfect but I guess it’ll do for now.

To Craig at The Wide Wide World and Marc at 4 Suitcases – my compliments to you for your brilliant websites and apologies for stealing your ideas!

Hi,
Our family is in the very early stages of planning our RTW – we’ve just stumbled across your blog and are very excited – we haven’t read of any other Aussies pursuing this ‘craziness’. (I too was inspired by the Andrus’ and several others – two of whom have published their adventures). We have just added a member to our family four weeks ago, and so don’t plan to start our adventure for several years yet, but by that time our kids will be 17, 10 and 7. We are in Brisbane (southside) and would love the opportunity to pick your brains if you have the time for a coffee (our shout) either before or after your adventure. Either way, we will eagerly await your journal entries, as your itinerary is eerily similar to what we have in mind. Safe travels.

Hi, we are also an Australian family in the early stages of planning our trip – I’m really looking forward to following yours, as you are the only Australian blog I’ve found so far (surprising, given how many Australians do this as backpackers).

Hi Jennifer, yes we were very surprised that there were no other Aussie families, who have done this “craziness’.
Took us a couple of weeks to get into a groove. Now we are having a great time. Good luck with the planning.
