Accommodation
This list will hopefully grow as we find accommodation we can recommend to other travelling families.
So far, we have found most of our accommodation online using the following websites:-
-
Agoda – bonus of accruing points which can be used to pay for future accommodation.
- Booking.com – sister website of Agoda, minus the points but sometimes cheaper options (also handy to have the app on the Iphone).
- Hostelbookers - probably the best option for hostels, guesthouses and sometimes apartments.
- Tripadvisor - we use this primarily to check reviews. If you get desperate you can use this to hunt through multiple accommodation websites like Expedia, Asia Rooms etc.
Thailand: Krabi :
Pan Beach Bungalows: This place is by no means 5 star. There is no hot water and toilets are bucket flush but if you’re interested in having a beach all to yourself and some of the best Thai food you’ve ever eaten – this is for you. Ask for the bungalows closest to the beach. Absolute paradise!
France: Montaigu-de-Quercy:
Numero Treize: This is the place to learn French and experience living in a traditional French village. Beautiful surroundings, everything you need in this self-contained cottage and fantastic French neighbours to practice your French with.
Paris:
The Garden Hotel: Basic room but plenty of room for a family, opposite a park with playground for the kids and within walking distance of metro stations, cafes, boulangeries and supermarkets.
England: Great Bardfield:
Bucks House: Beautiful B&B in the Essex countryside. Gorgeous rooms and the best English breakfast you’ll ever have.
